Long standing family owned history
Ian Roebuck began his working career in 1968, working for Roebuck Construction, a family owned company in New Plymouth.
Ian’s role was to manage a fleet of 54 items of mobile plant, including mobile cranes. Ian Roebuck Crane Hire was formed in 1979 by Ian Roebuck. The company began its operation with two cranes to service the needs of the Taranaki region.
The growth of the Petro-chemical industry within Taranaki provided for further expansion within a very short time and Ian seized the opportunity to provide equipment suited to the needs of the industry. The company’s relationships with its major customers flourished.
In 2007 Ian Roebuck purchased Todd McPhee Crane Hire. At the time of purchase, the Todd McPhee Crane Hire fleet numbered 12 cranes and two transporters, as well as a substantial fleet of access equipment for hire and had just opened a depot in Taupo to service its expanding client base. Today the two companies provide a comprehensive range of cranes from 2.5 tonne to 250 tonne and a large modern transport fleet.
Between the two companies we have an extensive history in providing cranes and transport.
Through our experience in working in the oil, gas and geothermal drilling industry we have purchased machinery that specifically suit the needs of these operations. An example of this being our four 55t Liebherr All Terrain’s. No other machine has the ratings or capabilities in this class. We provide services such as Rig Shift Coordination, transport through our fleet of quad axle transporters, pilots a full (CAD) computer generated lift plan service. Whether it be Rig Moving or Panel Carting and Erection, we offer a “One Stop Shop”.
No matter what the task, Ian Roebuck Crane Hire can provide a safe, efficient and professional service second to none.
